Shoelace

I tied you twice.
I threaded you,
thought I had you
knotted.
Not the case,
Shoelace.

I bent down to you,
more than I would ever
like to,
so much so I exposed,
Shoelace,
my other face.

I stepped between
my beliefs, and,
in the loop you gained a space,
Shoelace,
and laid yourself
across my tendons.

I tripped on you,
you, slinky trickster.
Shoelace,
somehow it became a chase
about who could tie you
the fastest.

Stay undone,
Shoelace.
You won.
