Carping: Day 6

Spent the evening reading at Swanpool Beach. That’s the beach in between Falmouth and here. It’s rugged and therefore more sheltered. A shack on the cliff edge calls itself ‘Hugged: On the Rocks’ and serves fresh seafood. I genuinely licked my lips at the Goan fish curry. It's just over five years ago that Lucy and I were zooming about dusty Indian roads. The restaurant’s pricey, which tells me the food is probably good. You have to get the psychology of that just right, don’t you? Make your food expensive enough so that people value it, but not so expensive that you drive business away.

Beginning to enjoy my morning exchanges with Paul. Though this morning’s has led me to believe I was confused about the one off 40 quid pitch payment for the pitch. As I handed over my cash to him, he said: ‘So that’s the money for this week, is it?’ Logically, this makes sense. £8 per night or £40 per week. In fact, it makes so much sense that I shouldn’t bother trawling through emails to testify the impression I was under.

The weather’s turning, he said. A freeze is coming in from the north on Monday night. He’s offered me the caravan behind. Either I can have it for ten quid a night, or on a weekly basis for £80 (because in that case, I’ll have moved my stuff in etc.).
